Doosan Heavy wins order for power plant upgrade
SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South
Korea's largest power-equipment maker, said Thursday that it has won a deal
valued at 100 billion won (US$72.4 million) to upgrade a power plant in the
country.
The deal with Korea South East Power Co. calls on Doosan Heavy to complete the
work for the power station in Yeosu, 455 kilometers southwest of Seoul, by
December 2011, the company said in a statement.
Doosan Heavy posted a loss of 142 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year,
swinging from a profit of 110 billion won a year earlier, on a weaker won and
losses from equity ties with affiliates.
Shares of Doosan Heavy were trading at 72,800 won on the Seoul bourse as of 9:10
a.m., down 3.19 percent.
