UN Food and Agriculture Organization helps herders in Khovd aimag

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Humanitarian aid by the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations by FAO was delivered to the most vulnerable and dzud-affected people in Bulgan (418 households and 1 herding enterprise) and Uench (141 households) soums of Khovd aimag in the western region of Mongolia. The aid package included animal fodder and hay, books on how to cope with dzud and SMS alert instruction on the weather forecast. Also, the herders in the region received a medical emergency aid package composed of fish oil, nutrition supplements, vitamins other medical substances for livestock animals. A total of 3500 households of 36 soums of 13 aimags (province) received the aid nationwide, which was delivered and distributed by Mercy Corps Mongolia NGO at national level.
