Thailand proposes date for ASEAN Plus Three summit

SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Yonhap) -- The annual ASEAN meeting with South Korea, China, and
Japan will likely be held from April 10-12 in the Thai resort town of Hua Hin,
about 190km south of Bangkok, a Thai embassy official said Thursday.
"We proposed that the meeting be held from April 10-12. We understand that there
is no objection from South Korea and the other nations," the official told Yonhap
News Agency on the condition of anonymity.
The yearly meeting has been postponed due to anti-government protests in the
Southeast Asian nation.
The official added that the Thai foreign minister has no plan yet to visit North
Korea, despite Pyongyang's recent invitation.
"We would like to focus on scheduling ASEAN meetings as the host of this year's
events," he said.
