Seoul, Tokyo discuss disposal of sea waste
SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Japan have held talks to discuss
cooperation on the disposal of sea waste along their coasts, government officials
said Saturday.
South Korea explained its efforts to reduce the level of sea waste during the
talks held in Busan Friday, while Japan detailed its own measures to combat
offshore pollution, the officials said.
Four countries -- China, Japan, Russia and South Korea -- have been plagued by
rising levels of sea waste, which moves along ocean currents to wash up on their
shores, they added.
The inter-governmental talks were held at the request of the Japanese government,
the officials said.
