COOPERATION DOCUMENTS SIGNED BETWEEN MONGOLIA AND RUSSIA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On 1 June, several documents on bilateral cooperation between Mongolia and the Russian Federation were signed within the framework of the St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, in which Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat is participating.
Capacity of Fourth Thermal Power Plant to be increased
A cooperation document between the 'Fourth Combined Thermal Power Plant' state-owned company of Mongolia and Urals Turbine Plant of Russia was established aimed at developing energy market of Mongolia. In the scope of the cooperation, the parties will collaborate in ensuring a reliable operation of the Fourth Thermal Plant, prolonging its operational period by some 30 years and upgrading its capacity by 90 MW. Furthermore, it also opens opportunities for Russian producers and investors of the energy sector to enter the Mongolian market. The Fourth Thermal Plant supplies 70 per cent of heat energy of Ulaanbaatar, however, its turbines needs to be renovated as they have been used for over 30 years.
4 million doses of vaccines to be provided from Russia
Within an agreement between the Ministries of Agriculture on granting humanitarian aid from Russia to Mongolia, Russia will supply 4 million doses of vaccines. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia has already made preparations to transport the vaccines. The parties also agreed to increase meat export by establishing joint meat factories by Mongolian and Russian businessmen and export products to Russia.
Regarding the development of the agriculture sector, Mongolian Government proposed to cooperate toward the full implementation of ‘Cashmere’ program. “- Despite the fact that relevant agreement has already been established, the Mongolian side should take certain actions immediately. Mongolia has millions of livestock animals and it is necessary to make reform and changes in the sector, giving priorities to the health and security issues” said Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Evgeny Gromyko. Talks are planned to be held during an incoming visit of Russian Agricultural Minister A.N.Tkachev to Mongolia.
Mongolia and Russia to cooperate in media industry
An agreement on cooperation in public communications and mass media was established, opening possibilities to exchange journalists, train Mongolian journalists in Russia, create documentaries and broadcast them mutually in the two countries. Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media N.A.Nikiforov said “- I hope it is just a start. We agreed to develop and widen our cooperation. For example, we will collaborate in carrying out a study on establishing a fiber optic network to the People’s Republic of China through the territory of Mongolia and ensuring cyber safety”.
