Thai embassies prepare sandalwood flower laying ceremonies
BANGKOK, June 8 (TNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered Thai embassies and consulates to prepare for the sandalwood flower laying ceremonies for Thai communities overseas to bid the last farewell to His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Busadee Santipitak.
The ministry was assigned by the royal funeral committee to organize the sandalwood flower lying rituals in other countries. Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Busaya Mathelin, who heads the working committee, ordered Thai embassies and consulates to hold exhibitions on the late King’s life and his state visits to strengthen relations with other countries at the venue as well.
The activities will give opportunities for Thais, living overseas to pay homage and express their loyalty to the beloved monarch. The venues of the event will be at embassies and consulates or at designated Thai temples in each country, Ms Busadee said.
As the royal cremation of the late King is scheduled in October this years, in Thailand, the main ceremony will be held at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in Bangkok, where the royal funeral pyre is located.
Thai temples and designated places across the country will arrange ceremonies for the public to participate in the event. (TNA)
