NINE FOREST FIRES BURNING OVER THE COUNTRY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ As of 15 June, there are 9 forest fires burning nationwide, namely, two in Yeroo soum of Selenge aimag, one in Umnudelger soum of Khentii aimag, one in Erdene and one in Mungunmorit soum of Tuv aimag, one in Teshig soum of Bulgan aimag and three in Ulaanbaatar. In connection with the forest fire and dryness situation, yesterday, Deputy PM U.Khurelsukh held a meeting with the authorities of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ministry of Environment and Tourism and National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring (NAMEM). According to NAMEM Chairman S.Enkhtuvshin, in the last 14 days, there was no rainfall all over the country and dryness is at a high level in green areas. “- Cloud seeding attempts have been made several times, but failed due to cloud condensation state. The Government solved a financing for 1000 pieces of cloud seeding rockets and the ordered rockets will be supplied in July. Currently, we have sufficient reserves of rockets” he said. Deputy PM U.Khurelsukh gave orders and instructions to relevant officials for the prevention from fire. Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Oyunkhorol was assigned to temporarily restrict operations of logging, utilizing forest resources and travel activities in the forest during dry season, in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and orders and to improve surveillance and check. Relevant officials were also charged to operate checkpoints and patrols on fire-prone regions, to define causes of fire and impose liability on those found guilty. B.Ooluun
