Lin Hui’s artificial insemination fails
CHIANG MAI, June 20 (TNA) -- Staff of the Chiang Mai Zoo were losing their hope for giant panda Lin Hui to give birth after its artificial insemination five months ago as it has resumed normal behaviors.
Nipon Vichairat, director of the zoo, said the artificial insemination occurred 135 days ago. Lately Lin Hui was building her nests and spent most of the time for sleeping. Those behaviors caused zoo staff to expect a newborn.
At the latest development, Lin Hui often somersaulted and ate 6-10 kilograms of food instead of 4 kilograms a day. Besides its progesterone dropped to a normal level, showing its pregnancy ended, he said.
Veterinarians would however conduct an ultrasound examination on June 29 to finally check the pregnancy possibility of the giant panda, Mr Nipon said. (TNA)
