PM invites American business people to invest in Thailand
BANGKOK, June 23 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha welcomed the chair of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), emphasized his support for technology and innovative industries and invited the latter’s delegation to invest in Thailand.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said the USABC chair led representatives of 33 companies in energy, infrastructure, information, health, food and financial sectors to visit Thailand.
The prime minister expressed gratitude towards the business council for regularly arranging for American business people’s visits to the country.
The government intended to restructure the Thai economy so that it would be driven by technologies and innovations in which the US had expertise, Lt Gen Werachon quoted Gen Prayut as saying.
He also said that the government gave comprehensive support to private investment and it included new laws and the improvement of government services for foreign investors.
“USABC expressed its support for reform in Thailand, especially economic one,” Lt Gen Werachon said.
USABC intended to support human resource development in Thailand through training and to raise awareness on social and environmental accountability among Thai operators, the deputy government spokesman said. (TNA)
