NIHR work strategy outlined

London, June 24 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) President Said bin Mohammed Al-Faihani met Council for Arab-British understanding (CAABU) director Chris Doyle. He gave an update on NIHR work strategy, objectives and role in fostering the culture of human rights and ensuring their protection. He underlined the importance of the reform project, led by His Majesty the King, in consolidating the values of human rights and protecting liberties by supporting watchdogs. Al-Faihani underlined the decision taken by a number of Arab countries, including Bahrain, to sever ties with Qatar which failed to abide by the Riyadh agreement and continuing financing and harbouring terrorist and extremist groups. He pointed out that the measures which were taken did not affect human rights, stressing their compliance with the international law. He highlighted the measures which aim at addressing possible humanitarian and health cases, pointing out the hotlines which were set up in each country to tackle any such cases.
