Key human trafficker arrested
BANGKOK, June 26 (TNA) – Anti-trafficking police arrested a woman, who allegedly procured underage girls for sex trade in Nakhon Ratchasima and Bangkok.
Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) chief Kornchai Klayklueng said in the media briefing that the police arrested Thipaporn Maneenoi, alias “Madam Poo” in Chon Buri on Monday after she had failed to turn herself in and moved to several provinces.
The suspect admitted knowing the victims but denied being involved in a human trafficking ring. She also denied forcing her 18-year-old daughter as sex worker, saying her daughter voluntarily provided sex service.
After the interrogation, the police are seeking the court approval for her detention today pending the investigation.
According to the police, Thipaporn allegedly procured underage girls into the sex trade in Nakhon Ratchasima and Bangkok.
The police earlier raided the V2 Entertainment massage parlour in Bangkok’s Lat Phrao area to crack down madam Poo’s human trafficking network. They found two underage girls, procured by the suspect and the other victim turned out to be the suspect’s daughter.
The police extended probe on her sex ring to Nakhon Ratchasima and arrested four people including three state officials and an employee at a resort in Pak Chong district for buying sex from underage girls. A separate raid was conducted at a karaoke shop in Prachin Buri. (TNA)
