Thailand, Russia to celebrate 120 years of diplomatic relations

BANGKOK, June 29 (TNA) – Thailand and Russia will hold activities to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations on July 14-16. Songphol Sukchan, Director-General of Department of the European Affairs said that Thailand and Russia will celebrate the event by organizing exhibitions at Siam Paragon’s Fashion Hall on the first floor to make public members know more about Thai-Russian cooperation in various fields. The exhibitions will be divided into five zones. The first one will be an exhibition on the history of the long-standing relations and technology and aerospace cooperation. Historical archives will be put on display. Other zones will showcase exhibitions on trade promotion between the two countries and cooperation in education, tourism and culture. Mr Songphol said visitors will also meet Mr. Russky Sri Ayudhya, the mascot of the event, a polar bear, which like Thai boxing. It will act as a cultural ambassador for the special event. Moreover, he added that Russian Post and Thailand Post will launch commemorative stamps for selling on July 3, featuring the picture of King RamaV and Tsar Nicholas II at the Peterhof Palace when the Thai King visited Russia in 1897.
