Thai teens win two football trophies in Sweden

BANGKOK, July 10 (TNA) -- The football teams of Bangkok teenage students won two championships in the international Storsjö Cup in Östersund, Sweden and will return to Thailand at noon on July 11. The team of 12-year-old boys and the team of 13-year-old girls received their trophies and gold medals at the Östersund stadium. The boys’ team defeated Norway 7-0 and the girls’ team beat Norway 3-0. The team of 15-year-old girls from Bangkok is the first runner-up after losing their final to Norway 0-1. Besides, 13-year-old girl Jina Thongphan from Na Luang School in Thung Khru district and 12-year-old boy Thanapol Thipcharoon from Wat Thong Samrit School in Min Buri district won excellent players’ awards. Deputy city clerk Charoon Meethanathaworn said the youths made a good reputation for Bangkok and Thailand thanks to their superb skills. He hoped they developed friendships with players from other countries and their success would inspire other youths to practice their favorite sports and become professional athletes in the future. He also said that many Thai people in Sweden and nearby countries watched the young Thai players in every match and gave them good morale. (TNA)
