Bahrain participates in non-proliferation meeting

Washington, July 20 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation headed by Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, has participated with the United States in the second bilateral meeting on Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the US Department of State in Washington and chaired by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Gulf Affairs in the Near East Bureau at the U.S. Department of State, Timothy Lenderking and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Non-Nuclear and Counter-Proliferation (ISN/NNCP) Ann K. Ganzer. Also taking part in the meeting were representatives from the US Departments of State, Department of Justice, Department of Defence, Department of Energy, Department of Commerce and Department of the Treasury. The two sides discussed practical challenges and dangers posed by Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) proliferation to world security and peace and exchanged expertise regarding relevant international agreements and aspects of future cooperation in the field between the two friendly countries. The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain comprises members of the National Committee on Prohibition of Weapons of Mass Destruction in addition to Brigadier Samir Al Zayani from the Bahrain Defence Force, Dr Jassim Al Mehza from the Ministry of Health, First Lieutenant Qassim Salah from the Ministry of Interior and Engineer Khalid Al Jahmi from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
