28 YOUNG MONGOLISTS BEGIN TWO-WEEK SUMMER SCHOOL

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The annual ‘Young Mongolists’ Summer School’ international program commenced today, July 24 with an opening ceremony at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports. The summer program is co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and National Council on Mongolian Studies under the Prime Minister, with an intention to introduce future scholars of Mongolian studies to life in Mongolia, and conduct a special seminar through real lingual and cultural interactions. The organizers also believe the summer school is a concrete step in realizing the goal to enforce the legacy of Mongolian studies. Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports G.Chuluunbaatar emphasized in his opening speech how the Mongolian government gives priority to advancement of Mongolian studies. He talked about the ways through which Mongolian studies can be promoted, and the corresponding institutions’ plan to grant short-term scholarships to young Mongolists to study in Mongolia. The 2017 summer school attracts 28 young scholars from 18 universities in 12 countries such as Russia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey, China, Japan, Iran, the ROK, the DPRK, Laos and the US. Not only will the young scholars hear lectures on various topics surrounding Mongolia in a normal classroom, they will also experience nomadic lifestyle first-hand as a part of their program which continues until August 5.
