Grand event set for Thailand Women's Day 2017

BANGKOK, July 24 (TNA) - The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will organize a grand event in Bangkok marking Thailand Women's Day 2017, which falls on August 1, in which various activities have been prepared for public visits. Thai Social Development and Human Security Minister Police General Adul Saengsingkaew told journalists on Monday that the upcoming Thailand Women's Day 2017 will be organized under the theme of "Thai women's power to express the highest gratitude to Their Majesties the King and Queen of the Ninth Reign". Police General Adul said his ministry is ready to adopt as key missions for publicizing the four principles advised by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, who has initiated the Thailand Women's Day since 2003 and has assigned the Cattleya Queen Sirikit Orchid as the symbol of the national women's day. According to the minister, the four principles include promoting the complete role of mothers, the observation of good housewives' duties, the conservation of Thai women's identities and the steady development of self-skills and knowledge of women. Meanwhile, the minister revealed that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over a ceremony, on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, to present the plaques of honor to 150 outstanding Thai women and 25 Thai girls, marking Thailand Women's Day 2017. Besides, other activities to be organized as part of the grand annual event include an exhibition in honor of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's 65th birthday anniversary on July 28, 2017, as well as exhibitions in honor of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty's 85th birthday anniversary on August 12, 2017, in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn herself on the auspicious occasion of the 62nd birthday anniversary of the revered Princess on April 2, 2017 and on the National Council of Women of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen and performances of outstanding Thai women and girls. The minister noted that exhibitions on the performances of women's agencies and networks, including those of the Foundation of the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand (SUPPORT), and booths to display women's works will also be part of the upcoming grand event.
