Local product fair at Klong Padung market

BANGKOK, Aug 4 (TNA) – The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) invites both Thais and tourists to buy local products at the Klong Padung Krungkasem market near Government House throughout this month. Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong and executive vice president, Suraphong Nillaphan jointly opened the market event, selling products from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at the Klong Padung market, which is opened daily to Aug 27 from 9 am. to 9 pm. More than 500 shops will take turns to open their booths during the three-week event. From Aug 4-9, the theme of the market is to promote products from SMEs, who are the BAAC customers and franchise entrepreneurs such as coffee with palm sugar from Songkhla, fish balls from Bangkok and coconut water from Samut Sakorn. From Aug 10-15, it will be held under the theme “Gift For Mom” to celebrate the Mother’s Day on Aug 12. In Thailand, August 12 is celebrated as the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and this day is also celebrated as National Mother's Day. Indigo dyed clothes, organic rice, Thai woven fabric will be available for sales for shoppers, looking for gifts for moms. From Aug 16-21, it will present value-added products with innovation from local farmers under the theme “Thai Idea Gift Fest”. The last week from Aug 22-27, the Fruit Fun Fresh will offer famous fruit from each region. It is expected that there will be spending, worth up to two billion baht during the event, which is also aimed at supporting SMEs to develop their products with innovation to increase their competitive capability in the global market.
