7 high potential categories of startups in 2018

BANGKOK, Aug 7 (TNA) -- Seven categories of startups have bright prospect next year, according to industry authorities. Somchai Harnhirun, permanent secretary of the Industry, said considerable support was effectively promoting startups in the country as more than 8,000 startups were founded this year, compared with three-digit increase in the past few years. He said startups with high growth potential next year would be in government business and education, farming and food, health-related innovation, future production, lifestyle and entertainment, tourism technology, and property technology categories. Pasu Loharjun, director-general of the Industrial Promotion Department, said support for startups was concrete and focused on operators’ development, advice on business models, co-working space to promote networking and shared ideas, and financial support. The department was supporting startups in developing highly valued products. The support included the Angel Fund for Startup to offer sponsorships to young entrepreneurs with innovations, Mr Pasu said. (TNA)
