Police raid restaurant, serving protected animals
BANGKOK, Aug 9 (TNA) - Police raided a restaurant in Town In Town area, serving protected animals as delicacies for Chinese tourists.
The police searched Luang To To restaurant in Wang Thonglang district following a complaint that it served protected animal menus for Chinese tourists.
The police’s search found 21 Siam soft-shelled turtles, one yellow-headed temple turtle, two rat snakes, preserved cobras and carcass of a pangolin.
These animals were kept in cages and a pond behind the restaurant and on the second storey of the building. The restaurant owner, Moo Saeyee confessed to serving special menus for about eight years.
He bought these animals from traders, who delivered them to his restaurant and Chinese customers normally called to order the delicacies before coming in to eat.
He was charged with having protected animals in possession without permission for selling and cooking. (TNA)
