PM is pleased after Bangkok chosen best on budget tourst destinations
BANGKOK, Aug 12 (TNA) -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is pleased after the Thai capital of Bangkok was chosen the world’s number one best value long-haul city by a British pollster, according to the government spokesman.
Government spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kamkamnerd said the Post Office Travel Money Long-Haul City Costs Barometer has just revealed the world’s cheapest long-haul cities and Bangkok stood first among 10 major global cities.
Its researchers looked at the price of 11 travel essentials including food and drink, sightseeing, airport transfers and three nights’ accommodation in voting.
Thailand’s capital topped the list as the best value long-haul city, with a total basket price of just 316.93 pounds.
Tokyo, the capital of Japan, came second on the list, followed by Beijing and Dubai. New York and Boston ranked ninth and tenth respectively on the list.
The Thai government has issued measures to stimulate foreign tourists to stay longer and spend more money in Thailand. The measures include waiving of visa fee and providing facilities for the tourists. (TNA)
