Nine firms intend to construct double-track rail projects

BANGKOK, Aug 20 (TNA) -- A total of nine private firms have submitted proposals to build two double-track rail projects in Thailand, said Anon Luangboriboon, inspector-general of Transport Ministry who is acting governor of State Railway of Thailand (SRT). Mr Anon said the SRT has invited private companies to submit bidding proposals through an e-auction between June 27-July 4 to construct 132-kilometre Map Kabao-Chira junction and the 116-kilometre Lop Buri-Pak Nampho route. The SRT on August 18 opened bidding proposals and found that five private firms had tendered proposals to build the Map Kabao – Chira junction, he said. They are a joint venture ITD-RT, Ch Karnchang Plc, CT joint venture, UN-SY joint venture and the Nawarat Patanakarn Plc. For the Lop Buri- Pak Nampho route, giant Ch Karnchang Plc also submitted bidding to build the dual-track rail project. The four other firms are the Italian-Thai Development Plc, the UN-SH joint venture, Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction Plc, and the TP JV Co, Ltd. The SRT is scheduled to inform firms which are qualified to enter the official bidding on August 28 and the bidding contest will be held on September 7. Winning results will be announced on the SRT website between September 18 – 20 and the signing of the contracts is to follow later. (TNA)
