New Customs Act to be enforced
BANGKOK, Aug 23 (TNA) -- Thailand’s Customs department briefs foreign businesses on a new customs law that is believed to make customs procedure in line with international standards.
The Customs Act of 2017 replaces the outdated Customs Act 1926 and its amendments after many years of drafting, consulting and debates.
Director of the Customs Department Kulit Sombatsiri said during a meeting with foreign business representatives on Tuesday that new act fulfilled several requirements, increased the ease of doing business in Thailand and stimulated the economy.
The passage of the Customs Act BE 2560 (2017) was announced in May but it will become effective 180 days later which is November 13. (TNA)
