Transnational drug traffickers busted

SONGKHLA, Aug 24 (TNA) - The Thai police arrested two Malaysians and seized 200 kgs of crystal methamphetamine also known as “ice” with the street value of at least six billion baht in a search of their vehicles in Songkhla. The police confiscated 200 kgs of ice, cars, Malaysian Ringgit cash, mobile phones and book banks. The suspects were identified as Lau Yong Chee and Chan Wai Yin. The police investigated the information and learned about the drug network’s drug smuggling plan to transport the drug from the northern Thailand to Malaysia before tracking them down. The police spotted two Malaysia- registered cars, heading to Songkhla’s Sadao district. The officials stopped the cars for searching and found the huge haul of crystal meth. The investigation into their bank accounts found that the large amount of money had been circulated with each transaction, ranging from 100,000 baht to 34 million baht. If this lot is smuggled into Malaysia, it could fetch at least six billion baht. In another drug bust in the northern province of Phrae, the police set up checkpoint on Denchai-Sri Satchanalai Road in Wangchin district and arrested two suspects with more than one million methamphetamine pills in their possession and 20 kgs of crystal meth.
