Foreign Ministry looks for former PM in all countries with her possible presence

BANGKOK, Sept 1 (TNA) -- Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said relevant officials have already contacted all countries where former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra was expected to stay but there has not been a reply yet. Mr Don said said that the police had not sent any report on the issue to his ministry and now the ministry was waiting for clear replies from the contacted countries. Regarding the possibility to revoke Ms Yingluck’s passports, Busadee Santipitaks, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Ms Yingluck’s legal case had not been final because the Supreme Court had yet to announce its ruling and she still had her appeal right. The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions issued a warrant for the arrest of Ms Yingluck on Aug 25 as she failed to show up at the court to listen to its ruling on her corruption-plagued and loss-ridden rice-pledging scheme. She has been missing since. She was charged with dereliction of duty for failing to stop the rice scheme and the charge makes her liable to a jail term of up to ten years. (TNA)
