Strategies implemented for Thai service sector

NONTHABURI, Sept 6 (TNA) -- The Commerce Ministry has worked out the first strategic plan to promote the service sector and develop Thailand into a regional hub of services. Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said that the strategies were aimed at promoting businesses in the service sector to increase national income. The strategies focus on innovaton-based services, the silver market or senior citizen, the promotion of service businesses in regions and the promotion of service startups. Ms Apiradi said the Commerce Ministry would open its Startup Complex to provide startups with comprehensive services. Besides, it will improve relevant laws and information about service businesses. The strategies would promote wellness and medical services, hospitality services, creative services, trade support services, construction and related services, and education services. Ms Apiradi said that e-commerce, logistics and Fintech would be among tools to promote the service sector. The promotion will also be region-based. The minister cited that wellness and medical services and hospitality services will be emphasized in the North and the Central Plain. The East and the South are designated for creative services. Trade support services will be developed in the Southeast and the South, construction and related services in the upper Central Plain and the Northeast, and education services in the South. (TNA)
