Forest tour need more caution after tourist death

CHIANG MAI, Sept 6 (TNA) – Officials warned tour operators to beware of strong current during the rainy season after a Chinese tourist was swept away at a waterfall in the northern province of Chiang Mai yesterday. Head of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office in Chiang Mai instructed tour operators to take precautionary measures in organizing trekking trips and adventure tours as culminated rainfall on mountains could trigger a flash flood in the rainy season. The warning came after a report of a Chinese tourist was swept away by a strong current while travelling in a tour group at a waterfall in Mae Tang district yesterday. The 26-year-old woman was found dead after two-hour search. (TNA)
