Grand German-Thai organic, natural products fairs in Bangkok set in mid-2018

BANGKOK, September 6 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Commerce, will join forces with a world-classed German private company to organize two grand German, Thai organic and natural goods fairs in Bangkok in mid-2018, the biggest events for the promotional products in Southeast Asia. Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn told journalists that her ministry's Department of Internal Trade has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Germany-based NürnbergMesse (NM), the organizer of BIOFACH, a world-classed organizer of trade fairs and business talks events, to organize the Organic Expo- BIOFACH Southeast Asia and the Natural Expo Southeast Asia in Bangkok during July 12-15, 2018. Apiradi said that the grand events are aimed to promote Thai organic and natural products fairs to meet international standards, paving the way for Thailand to become a hub of the development and networking of the production, trade and consumption of organic and natural goods in the ASEAN Community (AC) in the future. According to the commerce minister, her ministry expects more exchange of information on organic and natural products trade and markets between relevant parties in the wake of the grand fairs. The Thai commerce minister noted that her ministry will invite business operators of organic and natural products from ASEAN and non-ASEAN nations to participate in the two grand fairs. The minister projected that Thailand's trade of organic and natural products should reach nearly 3 billion baht in 2017, at least 10 per cent year-on-year expansion on average, leading to the further production, processing and marketing of more value-added organic and natural products comprehensively in the future. The minister stated that her ministry has also tailored a strategic plan on the development of the Thai market of organic and natural products 2017-2021, complying with the national strategic plan on the development of the Thai organic farming 2017-2021.
