Thailand is attracting foreign investment
BANGKOK, Sept 8 (TNA) -- Thailand is highly attractive to foreign investment as investors from Japan and other countries are exploring their investment opportunities here, the industry minister said.
Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana said the Thailand 4.0 policy and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project were attracting foreign investors.
According to him, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will bring 560 Japanese investors and 40 Japanese journalists to explore opportunities in the EEC on Sept 11-13.
He said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will meet the Japanese delegation on Sept 11 to directly discuss investment opportunities and government policies. The industry minister expects investment projects from Japan in the third quarter of this year.
He added that during the visit Thailand and Japan will sign many agreements to support bilateral economic cooperation.
Mr Uttama also said a survey by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Bangkok found that Japanese investors were highly interested in the EEC. Some of them plan to expand their business in the country and others want to make their presence here.
The minister said investors from other countries were also inquiring about investment in Thailand. (TNA)
