Illegal fishing, human trafficking decline

BANGKOK, Sept 8 (TNA) -- Illegal fishing and trafficking in person are declining in the country, police said in a press conference that the Foreign Ministry organised to report solutions to illegal fishing. Pol Lt Gen Jaruwat Waisaya, legal affairs commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, said deputy investigative commanders and prosecutors at the provincial level were trained on legal actions against illegal fishing and human trafficking. As the authorities developed the expertise in particular law enforcement against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) and human trafficking, the problems were declining in the country, he said. Meanwhile, Sorasak Saensombat, director-general of the Marine Department, said the department revoked the license and all curricula certificates of Chemstar Nautical School because police found it illegally issued seafarer certificates to the people who had not passed a course as regulated by the department. The school also sent reports on the illegally issued seafarer certificates to the department, he said. (TNA)
