THAI opens new route to Vienna
BANGKOK, Sept 11 (TNA) –Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, seeing a potential growth in European markets will debut a new route to Austria in November this year.
THAI will operate four weekly flights, utilizing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with 348 seats, said Viroj Sirihorachai, Acting Vice President, Revenue Management and Commercial Services Department of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI).
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, about six million Europeans travelled to Thailand in 2016, an increase of 6.8 per cent from the previous year.
From January to June this year, the number of European tourists was recorded at 3.4 million, up seven per cent from the same period last year.
Tourists from Eastern Europe, including those from Austria in Central Europe, ranked fifth amongst European tourist arrivals in Thailand or an increase of 10.5% from 2016.
Currently, Thai Airways operates more than 80 flights per week to 12 cities in ten countries. Vienna, the capital of Austria is surrounded by mountains and famous for cultural attractions, such as Schoenbrunn Palace and Hofburg Palace.
Located in central Europe, passengers can connect from Vienna to other cities in Europe and from Europe to Thailand conveniently through THAI's network. (TNA)
