More than 6 million meth pills seized

BANGKOK, Sept 19 (TNA) -- Thai police seized a massive haul of 6.3 million methamphetamine pills originated from en route for Malaysia. “It is the largest haul of meth confiscated this year,” Deputy police chief Pol General Chalermkiat Sirworakan said in a press conference on Monday. Drug suppression police intercepted the smuggling attempt in Ayutthaya when five suspects driving five vehicles from Chiang Rai entering the central province. Police found over 6.3 meth pills hidden under vegetables on the vehicles and a trailer. Police also implicated and arrested an accomplice in Chiang Rai’s border district of Wiang Kan where the drugs were brought into Thailand. Pol General Chalermkiat said the suspects deliberately chose the time of heavy downpours to minimize the chance of being caught. Police believe the destination of the traffickers was Malaysia where the drugs can fetch much higher. (TNA)
