BANGKOK, September 20 (TNA) - Thailand will continue to work together with the United Nations and all other relevant parties on the humanitarian mission and the reduced risk of disasters. Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai declared the Thai position at the High-Level Meeting on Hurricane Irma, organized as part of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72) in New York on September 18 (New York time). On the occasion, Don also announced the Thai government's donation of 150,000 US dollars to support Hurricane Irma-hit countries and people through the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). "The humanitarian support represents the goodwill of the Thai government and the Thai people towards the countries and people that have been affected by Hurricane Irma recently", said the Thai foreign minister. Monday's meeting was aimed to encourage the international community to join forces with the United Nations, local agencies, humanitarian units and the governments of affected countries in extending humanitarian assistance to the affected people and Thailand's participation in the mission, thus, promotes the Kingdom's role on international stages.
