Thailand, Malaysia strengthen security cooperation
BANGKOK, Sept 21 (TNA) – Thailand and neighboring Malaysia will set up a new joint committee to oversee security issues.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon said the Cabinet has agreed with the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Thailand and Malaysia on the establishment of the joint security committee.
The joint security committee would be the first-of-its-kind between the two countries, he said.
The two governments initiated the plan to form the joint committee to work closely as neighbours in overseeing security including human trafficking, transnational treats, document forgery, money laundering and Thai southern insurgency, Gen Prawit said. (TNA)
