Activities held to mark 100 years of Thai flag

BANGKOK, Sept 28 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the activities to mark 100 years of the adoption of the Thai national flag at Government House. The prime minister handed over the national flag for officials to be raised in front of the Santi Maitree building and led cabinet members, military chiefs, government officials and national sportspeople to sing the national anthem at 8 am. He then opened an exhibition, depicting the history of Thai flag. The activity is aimed to express gratitude to King Rama VI, who introduced the tricolor flag as the national flag of Thailand. The government designated September 28 as the Day of the National Flag and this is the first time that the activity is held to mark this auspicious event. The prime minister said today is an important day for Thais to be proud of the nation and to express gratitude for Thai kings. He said now, everyone has to create unity and reduce conflict for the future of the country. (TNA)
