Significant Anniversaries of DPRK Observed in DR Congo

Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- The National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea of DR Congo released a feature bulletin on Sept. 26 to mark the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and its 72nd birthday. The bulletin carried an article titled "Eternal Leader of WPK" with a picture of smiling Kim Jong Il. The article said that Kim Jong Il, elected as general secretary of the WPK on Oct. 8, 1997, had strengthened it into the party of President Kim Il Sung and the guiding force of the Songun revolution, always leading it to victory. And it noted that he built up the WPK into a revolutionary party in which the ideological and leadership system of the leader is thoroughly established and into a mother party which forms a harmonious whole with the masses and serves the people and that he made a ceaseless journey of Songun leadership, holding higher the banner of Songun (army-first) politics in the period of unprecedentedly grim ordeals. With his Songun politics, he turned the DPRK into a politico-ideological power and a military power and laid a solid foundation for the building of a socialist power, the article said, adding: He is always alive with the ever-victorious WPK leading the general advance of the Korean people for building a powerful socialist country. -0-
