Royal development project in Lower Thai North promoted as new tourist site
BANGKOK, October 6 (TNA) - A royal development project site in Phitsanulok Province in the Lower Thai North is now promoted as a new attraction for international tourists in honor of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Phitsanulok Governor Phakapong Tawipat and president of the provincial tourism federation Manit Sikhasamban jointly opened the "Nam Juang Model" royal project site in Ban Nam Juang of Chatrakarn District as a new tourist attraction with other relevant agencies on October 5, aimed to promote natural tourism and the ways of life of local people, including those of the Mong hill tribe.
The governor told journalists that Ban Nam Juang, where the "Nam Juang Model" royal project site is located, is a village naturally surrounded by a high mountain, making the locality a site with the comfortably cold weather throughout the year.
"The Nam Juang Model is now opened as a new attraction for international tourists who are welcome to visit and learn on the royal project, developed by late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, including an over 2,000-rai rice terrace area (about 3.2 square kilometers) that helps reduce the commercial use of local forests", said the governor.
"International visitors can also enjoy natural charms of waterfalls, a reservoir, local forests and the culture of the folk Mong hill tribe", the governor added.
Meanwhile, the governor signed an agreement with other relevant parties on the promotion of growing Thai herbs to be in line with the government's Thailand 4.0 policy, particularly the Sirindhorn Walle that can be used for the treatment of people with the diabetes and psoriasis problems.
On the occasion, over 200 Sirindhorn Walle herbal plants were presented to local community leaders and villagers to promote and expand the growing of the health herb, which is graciously named by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. (TNA)
