PM U.KHURELSUKH MEETS ADB DELEGATES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh received an Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation led by Muhammad Sami Saeed, Director of the ADB Board of Directors in Responsible for Mongolia, on October 13. At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed about the current socio-economic states of Mongolia and expressed his aspiration to keep the close cooperation with the ADB. He said Mongolia would maintain the continuity of the 2016-2020 Governmental Action Plan and the Economic Recovery Program. With an aim to improve responsibilities and disciple at all levels, PM U.Khurelsukh noted that the political situation will remain stable regardless of an upcoming formation of a new cabinet. The PM expressed his gratitude towards the ADB for a decision to grant a loan of USD 900 million, and transferring the first part of the credit USD 250 million to Mongolia in the frameworks of an International Monetary Fund’s program. He pointed out that the Mongolian Government is ensuring preparation works for co-implementing a program on improving air quality in Ulaanbaatar together with the ADB. “The Mongolian Government intends to diversify its economy by spending revenue from the mining industry on the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, farming, animal husbandry and tourism,” he added. After congratulating U.Khurelsukh on becoming the new Prime Minister of Mongolia, Muhammad Sami Saeed said the ADB will make financing of USD 1.2 billion in Mongolia in 2017-2020 and plans to implement projects and programs on economy, social welfare, infrastructure, environment, agriculture, tourism, renewable energy sectors, SME and supporting the employment of people with disabilities. Muhammad Sami Saeed agreed with the PM’s policy on diversifying the Mongolia’s economy and believed that Mongolia would maintain its achievements of the fiscal disciplines and ensure the macro-economic sustainable development. In last 25 years, the ADB has implemented around 280 projects and programs on health, society, finance, infrastructure and urban planning with loans and non-refundable aid of USD 1.9 billion.
