Pukchong County Lays Foundation for Increasing Fruit Production

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- Pukchong County in South Hamgyong Province, the DPRK is laying a foundation for increasing fruit production. It is a leading fruit producer of the country. Orchards of several hundred hectares were created this year. According to an official concerned, the county is planning to create more than 1 000 hectares of orchards within some years. This year it built 10-odd stockbreeding bases to establish the food production cycle of fruit and animal husbandry on a high level. It is also speeding up the building of fruit storehouse with a capacity of several thousands of tons and a project for modernizing the fruit processing factory. It finished the projects for expanding the roads, improving the Pukchong River and creating tens of hectares of windbreaks. -0-
