AGRICULTURE MINISTER SUGGESTS COOPERATION BETWEEN STATE ORGANIZATIONS

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ With a purpose to intensify foreign trade activities of the sector, Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister B.Batzorig met with authorities of the General Agency for Specialized Inspection (GASI), Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA), Taxation Authority (TA), the Office of Immigration, Naturalization and Foreign Citizens (OINFC), and Veterinary and Animal Breeding Agency (VABA). During the meeting held on December 5, B. Batzorig said, “Our ministry is impotent to solely manage meat exports and imports of animal fodder and hay which make much anticipation among herders.” The Minister asked the authorities of GASI, MCGA and TA to develop interactions between state organizations and support and facilitate foreign trade of the sector. “As a priority, it necessitates collaborating with relevant organizations to immediately manage imports of 50 thousand tons of hay and animal fodders from Russia and distributions to herders, and to import 225 thousand tons of wheat and 10 thousand tons of wheat grain,” he said. He also recommended them to cooperate on facilitating exports of non-breeding animals and horsemeat and beef in accordance with the quota set by the National Council on Food Safety. “Now, measures to reserve a total of 16 thousand tons of meat are being taken and it will be sold in the market at stabilized price during next spring in Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan and Erdenet cities. Thus, it is important to control certificates of origin of livestock to be prepared from rural areas, quality of meat to be reserved and quantity of meat to be sold,” stressed the Minister. M.
