Pyongyang City Designing Institute
Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang City Designing Institute in the DPRK has enjoyed the good reputation of having veteran designers.
In recent years alone, the institute has designed 90-odd monumental edifices like Mirae Scientists Street, Ryomyong Street, the Sci-Tech Complex and Pyongyang Orphans' Secondary School under the guidance of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
Ryu Song Su, director of the institute, told KCNA:
For the past 70 years since its foundation on October 30, Juche 36 (1947), the institute has advanced along the road of glory under the guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea.
It has completed the designing of over 470 important projects.
Among its first designs made under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung are the main building of Kim Il Sung University, Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and the then Central General Hospital.
After the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), its designers realized the standardization and specification of designs to establish Juche in architectural design and thus laid out a plan which made it possible to build 20 000 apartment houses with fund and building materials for 7 000 houses.
True to leader Kim Jong Il's Juche-oriented idea on architecture, the institute perfected the designs of Kim Il Sung Stadium, the Grand People's Study House, the Arch of Triumph, the Ice Rink and other monumental edifices in the period of prosperity in the construction of Pyongyang.
It has produced 9 winners of the title of Labor Hero, 3 holders of the title of People's Designer and over 30 holders of title of Merited Designer. -0-
