MONGOLIA-EU PARLIAMENTARY COOPERATION COMMITTEE TO BE FORMED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 11th Meeting of the Mongolian and European Parliaments took place on December 7 in Brussels, Belgium.
At the meeting, Mongolia was represented by a delegation led by MP N.Oyundari whereas the European Parliament was represented by its members headed by Iveta Grigule-Pēterse, Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan, EU-Uzbekistan and EU-Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and for relations with Turkmenistan and Mongolia.
The sides touched upon political and economic situation, developments since the 10th Meeting, security and regional affairs.
The European Parliament noted how the 2016 General Elections and the 2017 President Election demonstrated the strengthening development of Mongolia’s democracy along with the civil society, expressing its willingness to render financial assistance to the economic system reform in Mongolia.
The sides appreciated major developments in bilateral relations such as the entry into force of the Mongolia-EU Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation on November 1 and the opening of the European Union Delegation in Ulaanbaatar.
Following the meeting, the sides issued a joint statement, reiterating mutual commitment to the solidification of existing cooperation platforms between the Mongolia-EU Group in the Mongolian Parliament and the Delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan, EU-Uzbekistan and EU-Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and for relations with Turkmenistan and Mongolia of the European Parliament, and intensification of mutually-beneficial bilateral people-to-people relations.
Moreover, the sided agreed to establish a Mongolia-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in connection with the entry into force of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
The Mongolian delegation presented a Golden Gerege to be placed at the building of the European Parliament. The Golden Gerege has been placed at the UN’s Headquarters in New York City and Vienna Office.
