D.SUMIYA HONORED AS MONGOLIAN BEST ATHLETE OF 2017

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The annual ‘Burte Chono’ Awards run for the 15th year in the evening of December 20. The Burte Chono awards winners were selected by the secret ballot among 106 people including sports journalists and experts of the Mongolian Sports Press Union. The award ‘Best of the best Female Athlete of the Year’ together with a perpetual trophy went to World Champion D.Sumiya, Hero of Labor and State Honored Athlete of Mongolia. Ranked at the world number one, D.Sumiya became the first judoka who won at the World Judo Masters four times and with this, she set a new record. Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medalist and the Asian Boxing Championship 2017 bronze medalist D.Otgondalai received the perpetual trophy of ‘Best of the Best Male Athlete of the year’. Mongolian athletes and sports clubs, unions were selected in various categories such as the Best Sports Club, the Best referee, Best Doctor and Scientific Worker, Best Sports Union, Best non-Olympic Union, Best President of Sports Union, Best Sports Team, Best Coach, Best Female and Male Athletes, Best of the best Female and Male Athletes of the Year. The Best Male Athlete of the Year awards went to judokas G.Odbayar, a bronze medalist of the World Championship, Beijing 2008 Olympic Champion and N.Tuvshinbayar, a silver medalist of the London 2012 Olympic and a bronze medalist of the World Championship. Meanwhile weightlifter M.Ankhtsetseg, World Champion of freestyle wrestling P.Orkhon became the Best Female Athletes of the Year. E.Altanzul
