32 New National Records Renewed in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Athletes of the DPRK set 32 new national records at the Paektusan Prize Sports Games in February, the Mangyongdae Prize Sports Games marking the Day of the Sun in April, the Sports Contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize in June and the DPRK Championships in October this year. Players of the Defense Sports Team of the Korean People's Army and the Amnokgang Defence Sports Team renewed the records in the women's team 10-meter running target mixed event and the women's team 10-meter running target event in October. New records were also set in women's team and individual 10-meter rifle, men's team and individual 10-meter running target, men's individual 10-meter pistol, men's individual 25-meter rapid fire pistol and men's individual 50-meter 3-position rifle shooting events. Women players of the April 25 Sports Team proved successful at the swimming events. In particular, a player renewed 13 national records in the 100-meter butterfly, 1 500-meter freestyle and other events at the Mangyongdae Prize Sports Games marking the Day of the Sun and the DPRK Championships. New national records were set in weightlifting, archery and speed skating events, too. -0-
