Busan International Dance Festival to open in May
SEOUL, Feb. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's largest port city will host dance
performances from 11 different countries this spring in the largest show since
the Busan International Dance Festival (BIDF) was founded five years ago,
organizers said Wednesday.
The BIDF has expanded into one of the world's most acclaimed dance competitions,
bringing together performing artists from all over the world each year.
This year's event will be held from May 31 through June 4 under the theme
"Festival on the Water," staging 25 dance performances by 17 teams. Participating
countries include South Korea, Canada, the United States, India and Germany.
Six teams that pass the BIDF committee's preliminary contest will compete for the
Grand Prix and a cash award of 10 million won (US$6,700). Second and third place
winners will each receive 5 million won.
