Bahrain attends ICI meeting

Kuwait, Jan. 25 (BNA): A delegation led by Dr. Bahiya Jawad Al Jishi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium, and Head of Mission to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), took part at the Fourth Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) Policy Advisory Group Meeting, held on 22nd and 23rd January 2018 at the NATO-ICI Regional Center in Kuwait. The meeting was also attended by of Shaikha Aisha Ahmed Al Khalifa, Director of the European Affairs and European Union Department, were a number of high profile representatives from NATO member countries, ICI states, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting reflected on the success of cooperation between the ICI member states and the NATO countries during the last 14 years since its inception, as well as ways to enhance cooperation and face current regional challenges mainly countering terrorism, radicalism, cyber security, and nuclear threats. In this regard, the participants lauded the opening of the regional center and encouraged all sides to make full use of the center, to enable it to become the focal point for cooperation between NATO and the ICI countries.
