Manama, Feb. 15 (BNA): Several members of the high drafting committee tasked to prepare the National Action Charter (NAC) have hailed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stipulating the formation of the National Action Charter’s preparatory committee in November 2000.
The 44-member High Preparatory Committee of the National Action Charter was formed by Royal Order under the chairmanship of (the then Justice and Islamic Affairs Minister) His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, his deputy was the late Ibrahim Mohammed Hassan Humaidan (the then Chairman of the Shura Council).
"The National Action Charter was the building block whence Bahrain’s comprehensive modernization scheme took off to meet the aspirations of the people in harmony with the wise leadership’s vision to achieve Bahrain’s and its citizens’ welfare," concurred several of the committee members.
"We shouldered our assigned responsibility according to the Royal Directive by drafting the National Action Charter which is expressive of the insightful vision of our leadership and the aspirations of our people. We lived up to our huge task to consolidate the foundations of the State of Law and Egalitarianism in our beloved Kingdom. "We reiterate our allegiance to the wise leadership and the Kingdom on the occasion of the National Action Charter’s seventeenth anniversary which is very dear to all of us in anticipation of the promising future to the Kingdom," they told Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
Advisor of HM the King for Media Affairs, Nabil bin Yaqoub Al Hamer, stressed the importance of the wise vision of His Majesty regarding the formation of that committee comprising more than 40 expert members from various disciplines. He explained that the National Action Charter was the first light in the reforms of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and incarnated His Majesty’s diligence on the Bahraini people’s consensus and involvement in the preparation of this historic document.
He added that the committee’s work was focused on laying the foundations and components of the Kingdom’s advanced civic constitution, Bahrain’s Arab, Islamic identify, the essential components of the State and the community, and Bahrain’s Gulf, Arab and international relations.
He pointed out that the committee laid these basics from the vision of His Majesty the King and drafted this comprehensive, integrated document of reforms and modernization in all fields, the implementation of which was undertaken by HM the King since His Majesty’s Accession in 1999.
