UAE inventor creates irrigation water saver
ABU DHABI, 22nd February, 2018 (WAM) -- Coinciding with UAE Innovation Week which held in Dubai from 22nd-28th February, UAE inventor Mubarak Abdulla Albuainain has unveiled his Irrigation Water Saver system, which contributes to reduce the amount of irrigation water consumption by between 20 percent to 30 percent in farms. It is also said to have the ability to absorb water at a rate of up to three times more than sandy soil.
"The system has received a patent number GC0004596 granted by GCC Patent Office on 1st of January, 2017 and it has been awarded three international Gold Medals, a Gold Medal in ITEX Malaysia 2017, a Gold Medal in ICAN 2017 in Canada and a Gold Medal in Inova Budi Uzor 2017 in Croatia," he said.
Albuainain said that his invention was "the result of the efforts of the wise leadership in encouraging and providing all capabilities to Emirati cadres, motivating them to innovate, and excellence. The system boosts the sustainability and preservation of natural materials and resources and (will) solve the problem of sandy soil and waste of water in the country".
With its high water absorbtion capacity, he said, the system limits the waste of water into the ground. It also ensures that moisture is maintained in the area surrounding the system through diffusion of water from the base of the device. This is effective close to trees and plants, particularly in poor sandy soil, he said.
This, he suggests, will solve problems caused by poor sandy soil, particularly in summer, in areas where there is low rainfall. It will also contribute to a reduction of the rate of depletion from underground aquifers.
Albuainain’s invention is manufactured from biomass, which is free of chemicals and naturally degrades.
