DUPHAT 2018 kicks off today

DUBAI, 27th February, 2018 (WAM) -- Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, today officially inaugurated the 23rd edition of Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition, DUPHAT, held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 3-day conference is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the DHA. Following the opening ceremony, Al Qatami accompanied by a number of officials, local and international representatives, heads of delegations and specialists in the pharmaceuticals industry, took a tour of the exhibition, where they were introduced to the latest pharmaceutical products and technologies displayed by key industry leaders from the region and the world. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ali Al Sayed, DUPHAT Conference Chairman, said, "The profession of pharmacy in the region is going through the rapid transformation with greater automation, robotics, specialisation and more importantly upgrade of quality services, increasingly becoming the norm rather than the exception. To stay relevant and remain an integral part of the global healthcare fraternity, the pharmacy has to keep pace with the rest of the world and adapt itself to changes taking place in the industry. DUPHAT is committed to achieving this goal by enhancing and upgrading competency and professionalism, facilitating staff development, an introduction of specialised services and creating opportunities for collaboration." Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of DUPHAT Conference, in turn, said, "DUPHAT is witnessing a remarkable progress year after year in terms of the scientific programme and the parallel exhibition. This year, 650 companies from 75 countries from the region and the world will take part in the event that will occupy a total area of 18,000 square metres, while the conference and exhibition are expected to attract 27,500 visitors and participants this year." This year's conference sees the participation of 110 speakers and notable involvement of GCC delegates in sessions presented by pharmaceutical societies and associations from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.
