Dubai Municipality to observe International Tourist Guide Day

DUBAI, 27th February, 2018 (WAM) -- Dubai Municipality will observe the International Tourist Guide Day on Thursday, 1st March 2018. The Architectural Heritage Department of the Municipality will organise a lecture, entitled "The role of tourist guides in the sustainability of tourism" to mark the occasion. Jassim Zaitoun, a trainer accredited by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, will deliver the lecture at the Falcon Centre at Nadd Al Sheba. Ahmed Mahmoud, Director of Architectural Heritage Department said, the lecture is an opportunity to introduce the extent of the ability of tourist guides as they reflect the real face and image of the country. He noted that the country has the best and most capable tourist guides with a high level of academic preparation to the extent that some speak two other languages alongside their mother tongue. The lecturer will explain the definition of the profession of tourist guides, according to the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, the role of tourist guides in the tourism industry and its sustainability, and the principles used in the practice of the profession of tourist guides.
