GCAA holds Aeronnovation Summit

28th February, 2018 (WAM) -- The General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, today held the Aeronnovation Summit, in line with the GCAA strategy to support innovation in the UAE's aviation industry, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Aeronnovation Summit and Awards were held under the patronage of Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, and attended by GCAA board members, senior officials, and government and private entities around the world, as part of UAE Innovation Month. Al Mansoori said, "I am pleased to note that this Innovation Award submissions are assessed utilising a robust and multi-layered framework to ensure that the assessment process is appropriate and objective. The summit aims to recognise and provide an opportunity for all employees of the aviation sector, members of general public, academia and business organisations in the UAE to showcase innovations they designed and implemented." The GCAA Director-General, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, said, "Innovation plays a pivotal role in the advancement of any nation, therefore the GCAA insures that it supports and regulates important innovations in the aviation field. As the industry constantly evolves we must evolve with it and we must ensure that individuals are motivated, compliant and aware of all the needs to incorporate aviation safety, security and environmental laws to their innovations, thus creating the Aeronnovation Summit and Awards."
